Snapseed - Blog on Medium.com

I mentioned in last week's main blog post that I had to delay this post a week because of the Galaxy Unpacked news! I have it up for this week. This post is all about the odd situation with the Snapseed editor, and it's abandonment by Google!

Monday Surprise!

On Monday, I checked my blog around 7 PM and saw that 31 people were on the site! You may have seen me say on twitter... I really want to know where you all came from but just wanted to say a big thank you to all 32 of you in the hour!

Tech and Photography News!

This section is all about news from the week in the photography/camera/software/tech world! Starting with some news missed in last week's newsletter!

- ON1 Editor got an update to the editor which might put it in competition with Lightroom!

- Larry Thorpe is stepping down from his position at canon after 20 years and serving the broadcasting industry for the past 60 years!

- Samsung is being sued over the glass over the cameras on the s20 phones knowingly being faulty!

Now on to this week's news:

- This is one article suggesting that Google could have been keeping a secret (for once) and may be launching the Pixel 6 in a few weeks. In my opinion this would make no sense but... I don't work at Google so, we will see!

- The SEO himself said that there is a major product coming at I/O. Chrome Unboxed has a few ideas that could be it. This is my speculation, but I think that this may be the debut of a Fusia OS device...

- Audacity is now part of the brand-new company called MuseGroup! There is not much info about the acquisition as of now.

- New leaks have appeared for the Galaxy Z Fold 3! Samsung might be using an under display camera and adding spen support! No more news so far on the possible Olympus partnership...

- The Google Pixel May security patch is beginning roll-out. This is not a feature drop month, so we only get bug fixes. I'll post on twitter once I receive the update. πŸ‘

- Well... Back to Samsung for the s2 & Note 20 camera update. Now these devices have "directors mode" to do dual camera recording. I just can't help thinking that Samsung made us think that this was a feature exclusive to the Snapdragon 888 phones...

- Motorola also has a phone camera leak hinting at a 108 MP triple camera phone coming soon!

- Very sad news, Sony discontinued the last ever Sony DSLR's. This is my opinion but, I think that they might be making a mistake. Pentax released one of the most innovative dslr's in a long time, as other companies are discontinuing dslr's.

- More leaks come in for the Galaxy S22 rumoring a continuous zoom? Not sure what that is meant to be. More leaks for there under display camera come in as well.

- By far the funniest news this week: Getty Images bought unsplash, yes unsplash. This was announced right before April 1st which was not super smart since everyone thought that it was an April fools' joke! πŸ˜‚

- Twitter spaces officially rolled out for android. (it was supposed to a while ago but...)

- The CEO of Logitech said that the chip shortages from the Pandemic are probably going to last into next year as well... Not great news for Smartphone companies; especially as Google is making chips (more on that in a sec)

- Okay, this is pretty funny as well. Google did a great job of confirming the Pixel Buds A on twitter. After 10 minutes of the tweet being up it was taken down. Does Google leak things on purpose???

- A few days ago, Reddit had an outage during the week lasting for about an hour. Reddit has not informed us of what caused the outage as of now.

- Leaks show that the Asus Zenphone will still be using the idea of a flipping main camera to use for selfies. I personally think that it is a pretty cool idea!

- As if we weren't hyped already about Google I/O, Google added a custom twitter I/O hashtag!

- We get another confirmation that Whitechapel is coming to Pixel. No news of exactly when though... could be at I/O or at the end of year event. With the success of Google TV using the first ever Google chip, this is pretty exciting.

- RUHAcam, a 3d printable raspberry pie camera has received some hype recently with being one of many articles from the week.

- More Iphone 13 leaks show that the notch will finally be smaller! Also, a new earpiece design is probably going to be used.

- A new photographer directory from Waldo popped up using AI facial recognition to match consumers with photographers... Interesting.

- Another major leak shows that the Galaxy S22 ultra is going to have some major upgrades in the camera.

- Android phones can now be used with a Nintendo mobile controller for use as a remote shutter. People who have tried this out have said it works very well!

- Now back to iPhones! More rumors hint at a larger camera for the iPhone 13 and continue to confirm the notch upgrade. (why do iPhones still have notches????)

- More leaks of I/O hint at a new Google Assistant product may launch at I/O. Possibly the Nest Mini 2??

- Kodak launched a new instant camera!

- Windows icons are finally getting a revamp in an upcoming update.

- The S21 FE is probably close to launching according to these leaks.

- Google is preparing for the future of Pixels with a new storage saver feature being leaked.

- Google figured out how to get people back to work: Robotic Inflatable Walls! Uh... Hey Google, I think that is called overengineering.

That is it for this week! A lot of smartphone news, I hope that is okay!

Instagram Story

MrWhosTheBoss reported on a 14 YO kid who was able to use a story to crash Instagram and even your phone! This is a pretty insane story so be sure to check it out by clicking here!

One More Thing!

I am about to send this newsletter out, and I just wanted to thank you for the insane number of visitors that the blog has gotten this morning (5/7/21)! As of now, I have had 70 visitors already! Thank you so, so much! πŸ’—πŸ˜Š

I'm sending the newsletter out manually this week, so you'll get it a bit earlier! πŸ₯³

I hope that you all have a fabulous week!
