Photo News!

Now it is time for the Photography news from this week! Before I get into this news, I wanted to mention that Google News now has a Windows App (webapp) which is super cool! Thanks Google!!!
Let's start out with what I missed last week:

-Google is ending support for Android Jelly Bean. Jelly Bean included Android versions 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3. I would be shocked if there are many people using Android 4 still.

-Google officially launched a Fuchsia OS discord server! Google wants to hear feedback about the new OS from the community to make it better, so if you are into that, check it out!

-A Fuchsia branded jigsaw puzzle showed up on eBay??? If you find this confusing, you aren't alone. My guess is that this was for reviewers. When Google launched the Google Pixel 4a, they sent biscuits, so it isn't uncommon for Google to make funny products like this.

-Google Pixel 4a5G's and Pixel 5's are out of stock on the Google Store. It is unknown what this means, but the chip shortage is getting worse. It is worrying that Google is only able to sell one phone right now. I would expect that all of Google's stock is short. I seriously doubt that the Pixel 6 is coming this soon. To my knowledge, Google has never released a phone at this time of year...

-Another Android 12 beta came, bringing animation updates to Google Apps. This will match up with the incredible Material You

Now for this week's news:

-Samsung released a TV service without any announcement...

-For the biggest news this week, an FBI and AFP have been using custom Google Pixel 4a's to catch criminals! Definitely check out this article because this is fascinating!

-WhatsApp is updating their photo sharing code! There will be new options for "best quality" to make photos uncompressed!

-An underwater camera case company leaked the Sony 7 IV! The side of this case says a7IV!

-AMS released PhotoWorks 10.0! Apparently it won't suck!

-Microsoft Clippy is coming back!!! Okay, not really. But it will be available as a Microsoft Teams wallpaper and other iconic Windows wallpapers like the original Windows background and more!

-Google Lens advertising has taken a step-up! I would guess that it is because Google just got it's first actual competition since 2017! Sorry Bixby Vision, you don't count.

-The upcoming 2021 MacBook pro may have a 1080p webcam!!! Wow! Finally! My hope is that more companies move away from the horrible 720p webcams.

-Sigma is working on a mirrorless version of their 150-600mm sports lens!

-Norway now requires influencers to say when photos were edited!

-Canon has shortages of 5 lenses. Canon apologized but can't really do much about it since it is on the supply end.

-A new OnePlus phone might come on July 22! Also, maybe earbuds? Sadly, the release won't be for the US.

-Google may now provide 5 years of Google Pixel updates for the upcoming Google Pixel 6! Hey Samsung, Google is doing this for free to. Take notes Samsung, take notes. 😂

-This next bit of news is super interesting. Yongnuo released an Android powered mirrorless camera. I am super intrigued by this one. Interestingly, it uses EF lenses... I didn't find anywhere saying that it supported EFS. That is one downside. It will be $600.

-I saw this interesting article from Review Geek. This writer gave up the Pixel 4a for the S21 and totally regretted it and hated the Samsung phone. It is a really interesting read.

-Another cool article I saw was from Forbes. This writer used a 2015 Pixelbook after no luck with both Macbooks and Windows machines. Google is really passing up a chance to bring in a market with another Pixelbook. I would be soooo happy if Google continued the Pixelbook series. Even though the first few were not perfect, the pixelbook & pixelbook go, a try in 2021 could be better! Especially with advancements in Google hardware!

-Google accidentally revealed the names of the upcoming Pixel phones. Google is clearly targeting the flagship market again after a one year break. The phones will be the Pixel 6 and 6xl.

-Intel is making a multibillion dollar expansion to the company.

-Other news shows Google may be using a 122mp sensor in the Pixel 6. This contradicts rumours of a 50mp Sony sensor.

-The rumours of the Olympus & Samsung partnership is back! Possible 200mp sensor!

-The Google Pixel 6 may have a selfie flash? Yes, currently phones light up the screen as a flash that somewhat works. Google may be the first major company to introduce this.

-Xiaomi is now a bigger company than Apple! Yes, this came in just this morning!

-Canon may launch a $799 FULL FRAME camera! This will be the least expensive full frame camera ever! My camera was in a similar price bracket and is just under full frame. It is close, but it is officially labelled "relative to full frame".

-Windows will launch one last major update before the Windows 11 release. 21H2 will come out in October. There were rumours of Windows 11 launching then, but they must have been confused with this update.

-Elgato has released their long awaited livestream webcam. Now you can officially have a full Elgato livestream set up!

-Samsung might have screwed up big time! Samsung Galaxy S20 displays seem to be failing, leaving users with an all green phone screen. This is bad news since the phone is still being supported for two years. My hope for S20 users is that there will be a recall, just like with the Note 7.

-One last thing today is that Windows is adding the famous Clippy into Windows as an Emoji. The idea is to memorialize Clippy forever.

Thank you so much for reading this week's newsletter! Again, thank you to Google for creating the incredible Google News web app this week! There are a few bugs, but it overall has improved the workflow for this newsletter! Okay, have a fantastic week everyone!
