Hello all!
This week I have more photos from Scotland and the regular news for the week... enjoy!

The blog post!
This week, all the shots are from my Pixel 4a since I currently can't edit photos from my camera due to issues that have yet to be resolved. Luckily, my RAW (.dng) files from my Pixel were accessible still, so I powered up my Pi 400 with Manjaro and began editing in Darktable! If photos seem desaturated, it's probably because the capture card I used to view the computer is cheap and doesn't display the full range of colors... This is also why there haven't been any Instagram posts for a bit. Anyways, enjoy the post!

Top 3 Headlines:

- Android 13 came out this week to Pixel phones and Xiaomi is preparing to release their modified version of it. Here is a list of all the companies that are finishing up their development on their model exclusive features and skins for the OS. Accross the two biggest Xiaomi brands, Xiaomi is releasing the update on the most phones. This is one of the earliest Android updates ever and overall small but important. Some features are on their way, updates to the privacy manager are coming in the next few weeks, the new app search needs to have updates to all Google apps so you can search every single section of the apps with one search bar, which is super useful, and Google Meet + Google Phone (replacment to Duo) already has the search features to easily call people withen seconds and without launching the Meet app. One last thing, the App Streaming to ChromeOS is ready on the Android side but it seems like the ChromeOS devs are waiting to release it in a couple weeks with earlier launches for Beta & Dev users. The App Streaming is definetly the flagship feature of the OS for Google users.

- While on the topic of phones, let's talk iPhone! So, the iPhone 14 is slated to launch on September 7 with a new 48mp camera for the first time in a few years (only on models above $1000). From what we've seen, it seems Apple is keeping the 12mp ultrawide in the same way that Google did for the Pixel 6. There have been quite a lot of evidence (not garanteed to be acurate) pointing towards the iPhone 14 Pro being $100 more which is very interesting considering Googles flagship Pixel 6 Pro is already $100 less than the 13 Pro. This would make a $200 price gap with Google phones and Xiaomi phones will continue to have a larger price gap. It is definetly strange considering nothing points towards manufacturing costs being much higher, the 48mp camera isn't going to be that expensive. We'll have to see, but it certianly is a questionable price increase for no value increase. We'll find out on September 7th!

- This weeks camera news is unfortunate as Cinema lens company Musashi shut down. The company was doing very well right before the pandemic with continuous growth in profit becuase they also made lenses for medical research/machinery so their sudden fall to bankruptcy is quite suprising and can probable pinned on manufacturing issues during covid and possible poor managment of finances. B&H has now made all the lenses unavailable and it is sad to see because the lenses were very unique with versitile focal lengths and phenominal engineering to have an open aperature available at all focal lenghts. Obviously, this did come with a price tag of 20-30,000 USD per lens which definelty limits the market. As always, there always could be a rebrand/change in ownership and the company could have a return similarly to Olympus but it would require a large finantial backing.

That is it for this week! Thanks for reading!
