7th FLOURISH Newsletter

 

The 4th Edition of the Master in Resilience in Educational Contexts

The 4th cohort of the Joint Master Programme in Resilience in Educational Contexts will be starting their studies at the University of Malta at the end of September 2026. We are expecting about 30 students from 24 different countries. Preparations are currently underway to welcome the students at the University of Malta where they will be attending courses in Resilience in Human Development, Competence and Pedagogy in Resilience Education, and Planning, Implementing and Evaluating Resilience Interventions amongst others. A number of social activities will be held at the beginning of the programme to welcome the new students.


For those who are interested in applying for the Joint Master’s Programme, we expect the course to reopen in October 2028, with applications most likely opening in Autumn 2027.

Testimonial Video by the University of Lisbon

The University of Lisbon, Portugal has published a new testimonial video featuring students from the second cohort of the Master in Resilience in Educational Contexts. In this video testimonial, students Marcos (Brazil) and Silvia (Italy) answer questions about the course and share their personal and academic journeys, discussing their backgrounds, motivations for joining the programme, and the experiences that have shaped their learning. The video also includes contributions from other students, who presented the theme and context of their dissertations. To access the video click on the photo below:

         6th FLOURISH Podcast by the University of Crete

In this 6th FLOURISH podcast, Professor Anastassios Matsopoulos from the University of Crete in Greece speaks to 3rd cohort students Nadia Omumi (Iran) and Khurshid Hassan Rajib (Bangladesh) about their FLOURISH Master’s experience in the 2nd semester at the University of Crete, Greece. Prof. Frank Bezzina Appointed Rector at the University of Malta

We’re delighted to announce that Prof. Frank Bezzina has been elected as the 82nd Rector of the University of Malta. He officially started his five-year term on the 1st July 2026, and succeeded Prof. Alfred J. Vella, who held the role since 2016.

The 5th International Conference on School Psychology, Resilience and Well-Being in Schools

The 5th International Conference on School Psychology, Resilience and Well-Being in Schools, Families and Communities, was successfully organized by the University of Crete on 21 May 2026 in Rethymno, Crete. Bringing together leading scholars, researchers, and practitioners from Canada, Switzerland, South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Greece, the conference explored current developments in school psychology, resilience, and mental health promotion.

As part of the programme, a presentation on the Erasmus Mundus FLOURISH Masters Programme, Resilience in Educational Contexts, was delivered, featuring a joint presentation by Professor Anastasios Matsopoulos and FLOURISH graduates student Josefina Davila Vijil, highlighting the programme’s objectives, international dimension, and innovative approach to resilience in education, while promoting dialogue and networking with the international research community.
