Hi everyone! This week's post is another short photo selection! Not sure what happened to the formating, sorry about that but hope you enjoy anyway!
Top 3 Headlines:
- First off, a large layoff this week from Google involves around 12,000 employees. Numbers are not as high as other companies but it is still shocking. After some light digging, it is likely related to recent actions by the founders of Google/Alphabet advising the company to refocus efforts onto AI with the rise of ChatGPT. An interesting situation that is backed up by the fact that layoffs primarily effected Area120 which is a part of Google that largely doesn't use AI in its products.- Apple had their spring event as predicted on Tuesday where they revealed some underwhelming Macs using the M2 chip but more interestingly released the HomePod 2, the Amazon Echo & Google Home competitor. Sadly for most users, the device is still far more expensive than many options on the market sitting at a staggering $299 per speaker! Yiiikes. The price should bring outstanding sound quality and an improved Siri and excellent product integration but Siri still seems underwhelming.- Finally, we got a small bit of info from Samsung who is gearing up for the release of their new camera: The HP1 (Isocell). This camera is a staggering 200mp. Don't be fooled by the high mp count since it is more equivalent to a 100mp camera which is still impressive, just the 200mp build allows more detail but not neccessarily more light. Alright, that is all!
